STEM Day at Reeinvent: Learn by Building, Lead by Sharing

Mirza Metiljević

The world keeps changing. Technology pushes new boundaries every day. What matters most isn’t another feature or platform — it’s how we think.

The STEM mindset (science, technology, engineering, and math) isn’t just for labs or classrooms. It’s a practical way to work, learn, and collaborate. At Reeinvent, we didn’t stumble into it overnight, we’ve built it together, project by project, through every challenge and every chance to grow.

From the start, I’ve been lucky to watch ideas become real projects and a small team become a stronger one. Wins and missteps alike have taught us. We don’t leave learning to chance, we design for it: by doing, by sharing, and by staying curious.

What STEM Day Means to Us

For me, STEM Day isn’t just a date on the calendar. It’s a mindset we live by every day:

We learn by building

We lead by sharing

Instead of learning passively, we experiment. Instead of keeping knowledge to ourselves, we share it. When someone finds an elegant solution, cracks a tough problem, or learns something new, it doesn’t stay in one team. We pass it on, across functions and projects, so in that moment each of us is both a learner and a mentor.

Learn by Building

Our approach to STEM starts with hands-on work—and with heart. We don’t wait for perfect conditions; we build with what we have, knowing every attempt is a chance to learn. Mistakes aren’t failures, they’re steps forward.

Over the years at Reeinvent, I’ve seen how the small experiments, the quiet “what if” moments, make the biggest difference. That’s where real learning happens.

STEM Day is a reminder of that mindset: understanding comes from doing. When we build, we learn. And that learning becomes the foundation for everything that follows.

Lead by Sharing

Knowledge becomes real power only when it’s shared. Through peer mentoring, demos, internal workshops, and even casual coffee chats — ideas travel, evolve, and inspire. At Reeinvent, sharing isn’t an obligation; it’s simply how we work.

From the early days, the most rewarding part has been watching people support one another. When someone discovers a new technology or cracks a tough problem, it quickly becomes a shared lesson. That’s how we grow — not as individuals in isolation, but as a community that learns together.

STEM Culture in Practice

Having a STEM mindset at work doesn’t just mean being technical. It means being curious, asking questions, experimenting, testing, and not being afraid to fail. In practice, it’s reflected in everything we do — from how we prototype, to how we communicate across teams.

From every situation, even the challenging ones, we try to make the most of it.  When something doesn’t work, we ask: “What can we learn from this?”

That openness to learning is what has helped us move forward, both as a team and as an organization.

Why "Learn by Building, Lead by Sharing" Makes a Difference

This simple philosophy has become part of who we are. It reminds us that knowledge is never finished, and the best way to master anything is to use it, then share it.

When someone on the team shares an experience, a win, a hard-won lesson, or a new tool — it’s more than information. It’s an invitation for others to join in.

That’s how we create a place where anyone can lead, regardless of title. In this culture, leadership means inspiring others to learn, and learning means having the courage to build, even when it’s hard.

Conclusion: Building a Culture of Learning

STEM Day is more than an idea, it’s a reminder of who we are and how we work. From my first day at Reeinvent, I’ve believed the best way to learn is to build and share. Years later, that belief still stands.

You can’t buy or mandate a learning culture — you build it step by step, experiment by experiment, project by project. And once you do, it becomes the foundation for everything you create.

Key Takeaway

STEM isn’t just a set of skills, it’s an attitude. We’ve shaped it together over the years, learning from every challenge and every idea. That’s why, at Reeinvent, we keep learning by building and leading by sharing — every single day.
